Madhavaram taluk in Chennai covers an area of 136 kilometers, that is 52.5 miles. The main neighborhood or locality is 5.54 square kilometers. The area features large scale zones including a 700-acre milk colony complex. Another is a 28-acre garden. The botanical garden is also an area.

Madhavaram is a well-known residential and urban neighbourhood in North Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is a fully urban area and sits under Zone III of the Greater Chennai Corporation. It also acts as the head of Madhavaram Taluk, a larger administrative unit with two firkas and 36 villages under it.

The area is home to top apartment projects including Prestige Palm Court by top builders like Prestige Group. The venture spans over 7.98 acres and is home to luxury apartments and penthouses. It is also close to the upcoming Madhavaran metro station.

So Madhavaram itself is a compact city neighbourhood, while the taluk around it covers a much wider stretch of North Chennai.

MTC Buses

Madhavaram has a lot of bus routes like 121C, 48B, 56DET and M121A. These buses go to CMBT, Broadway and other big places. The cost of a ticket for an MTC bus is usually between Rs. 5 and Rs. 25.

This depends on where you are going. It takes around 30 to 60 minutes to get to the center of Chennai by bus. This is because of the traffic.

Madhavaram Mofussil Bus Terminus

This is a bus station in Chennai where buses go to other cities. It started working in 2018. It has 92 platforms. TNSTC, SETC and buses from other states come and go from here. Madhavaram Mofussil Bus Terminus connects Madhavaram to places in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Chennai Metro (Current and Upcoming)

The nearest working metro station today is Washermenpet, on the Blue Line, about 8.7 km away. Once Chennai Metro Phase 2 opens, Madhavaram will get its own major station.

Fares on the current metro system range from Rs. 20 for 2 to 5 km trips, up to Rs. 40 for 12 to 21 km trips. Trains run every 5 to 10 minutes, based on the time of day.

Auto-Rickshaws and Cabs

You can easily find auto-rickshaws and cabs like Ola and Uber in this area. These are really good for traveling around Madhavaram and other nearby places because they take you right to your door.

The project offers a large clubhouse of around 50,000 sq. ft. and more than 50 amenities. It also keeps close to 75% of its land as open space. Buyers get a no-shared-wall design for the 2 and 3 BHK units, adding extra privacy.

Future Updates for Madhavaram

Several infrastructure projects will shape Madhavaram's growth in the coming years.

The Chennai Metro Phase 2 Corridor 3 is a project that goes from Madhavaram to SIPCOT. It is very long, spanning 45.4 km. It has 49 stations.
The Chennai Metro Phase 2 Corridor 5 is another project that goes from Madhavaram to Sholinganallur, and this one is 47 km long.
The Madhavaram Milk Colony Metro Station is going to be very important because it will connect both of these corridors.
The Moolakadai Flyover is already helping to make traffic better near the center of Madhavaram.

The work on the Metro is happening in steps. It should be finished between 2026 and 2030.

When Chennai Metro Phase 2, Corridor 3 and Corridor 5 become operational, they will directly connect Madhavaram to key parts of the city. These corridors will provide seamless access to major IT hubs such as SIPCOT and Sholinganallur.
